Proudly Baking in Abitibi Since 1951
About us
A family business rooted in the heart of Normétal
For over 70 years, Boulangerie Lacroix has been feeding families across Abitibi-Témiscamingue with artisanal products made on-site in our Normétal workshop. Founded in 1951, the business is now led by the fourth generation of passionate bakers, with an eye already on the next generation. Here, bread isn’t mass-produced—it’s passed down.
A baking tradition passed down through generations
The Lacroix family’s journey is closely tied to the village’s evolution. From a small neighborhood bakery to a distribution network covering the entire region, the vision remains the same: to offer fresh, honest products made with heart.
Every loaf, every pastry, every pie crust is the result of know-how honed over decades.
Local pride you can taste in every bite
Far removed from large industrial bakeries, Boulangerie Lacroix remains a symbol of regional pride.
Our labels say it proudly: Abitibi Pride.
Because we believe local bread tastes better when it’s made by local people, for local people.

Locally made products for every taste
We make everything ourselves:
Fresh sliced bread and bulk bread
Homemade pies
Pizza and pie dough
We’re even developing new products, including our Low-Carb bread for keto lifestyles.
Everything is designed to meet the needs of households, schools, restaurants, local businesses, and grocery chains alike.
Friendly, warm, and efficient service
With a team of 7 delivery drivers covering the region every week, we provide a personalized delivery service that’s fast and reliable.
For visitors, food lovers, and baking enthusiasts, we open our doors for guided tours—a true journey through the bakery’s history, from kneading to tasting.
Our values: hard work, family, resourcefulness, and respect
These four pillars are at the heart of how we do things. They guide every decision we make—in management, production, and our relationships with partners.
A business that keeps moving, while staying true to its roots
Yes, our logo has changed. Our packaging too. But our mission has remained the same since 1951: to make great bread—honestly, authentically, and for generations to come.
Our story
1951
Abraham Lacroix founded a small neighborhood bakery in Normétal.
The family supplied bread to workers in the region’s thriving copper, zinc, gold, and silver mines.
1951–1975
- The Normétal mine, the region’s main employer with up to 800 workers, generated strong demand for the bakery until its closure in 1975.
The Following Decades (1960s–1980s)
Lucien and Marcel, the founder’s sons, take over the family business.
They develop door-to-door distribution in nearby villages: Dupuy, Saint-Lambert, Villebois, Clerval, Val-Paradis, and La Sarre.
Next Generation (1990s–2000s)
Alain, the founder’s grandson, continues the family business.
Distribution expands to major supermarket chains such as IGA, Maxi, and Super C, as well as many other regional retailers.
His wife, Lise Bégin, develops a range of healthy breads and premium pastries.
Today
Production is led by Sandrine Lacroix (fourth generation) and Pierre-Karl Lambert, with a team of 30 workers.
Experienced employees—Carole Aumond (Customer Service), Benoît Poirier (Delivery), and Normand Brassard (Maintenance)—pass on their expertise to the next generation.
